In 2015, 73-year-old Huai-hui was diagnosed with bone spurs in her knees. Pain radiated from her knees up into her lower back. The pain was so intense that getting up to go to the bathroom took 20 minutes, and she stopped venturing out to socialize.

Free of Pain and Bone Spurs
I joined Taichung Center in 2015. My daughter brought me here. My knees and ligaments were deteriorating. I also had bone spurs.
My biggest worry 4 years ago was my mom. She had bone spurs in her knees. My mom has 5 children and we all live in other countries. She suffered every night. The pain went from her knees to her lower back. Sometimes when she was in a hurry to go to the bathroom, she couldn’t get up. My dad wanted to help, but he couldn’t. She needed to get up in a certain way to avoid pain. So my mom was kind of depressed at that time.
I couldn’t squat, bend over, wash my face, etc. I had to clutch the handrail when walking up the stairs without someone to help me. It took a long while for me to walk up the stairs. The doctor said it was ligament deterioration due to old age. I also had bone spurs. All I could do was taking pills. If the pills didn’t work, I would need to have surgery. I was very sad because my kids weren’t here. At that time, my knees would swell up and the pain was killing me.
My mom’s swelling was quite bad. She tried almost all medical options. Because of her pain, she wouldn’t go out to meet her friends. It was very troublesome if she needed to go to the bathroom. She preferred to hold it until she got home. That is why she wouldn’t go out socializing. That made her depressed.
I would get cramps in my lower back. When it happened at night, I couldn’t get up and go to the bathroom. When it was time to get up, I would have to spend around 20 minutes.
And then a friend in Los Angeles told me about Energy Bagua. So when I returned to Taiwan, I took my mom to a practice session. It is unbelievable. The swelling was gone after 108 days of practice. After another 108 days, she could even bend her knees. (She can bend them now.) Yes. My mom said she wanted to try sitting cross-legged like us. I thought that was too much for her. I told her to slow down, take it easy.
I have been practicing for 4 years. The pain occurred no matter I practiced or not. For the first year, I didn’t walk continuously. My movements were slow at first because of the excruciating pain. It was impossible to walk nonstop. For one whole year, I just practiced at a slower pace. I thought I must practice, no matter what. I would feel pain either way, so I might as well practice. My daughters told me to practice no matter what. I agreed.
If there is pain, I must visit doctors and take pills. If there isn’t pain then I just let it be. So I stopped taking my pills and continued practicing. I don’t know when the change happened, but I felt so strange: How come I can squat and bend over now? I couldn’t go out before, but I go everywhere now.
My other health issues also got better. My eyes used to be dry, and they couldn’t open at night. They are OK now. My arthritis also improved. My rheumatism pain was a seasonal thing. I used to feel sore during seasonal changes, or on the day before it rained. It has been like that for more than a decade. When the season changed, my body would be sore. I also don’t know when this was fixed. But the pain is all gone now.
