My last name is Zhan. Zhan as in Zhan Tian You. Rong as in honorable; Jun as in handsome. I’m from Taichung. I work as an auto mechanic. One day, I suddenly fell backward while working. The fall hurt my lower back. I was young then. I recovered quickly from the injury. It took a few days or a week. But over time, I felt lingering effects of the injury.
Last August, I learned to swim. Maybe my posture was incorrect. When I got home, my wife asked, “Why are you standing crooked?” I went to see my doctor. He said I had severe lumbar disc protrusion. After I had an MRI, the doctor suggested a surgery to correct the issue. Surgery was the only solution. At that time, I really disliked walking. I leaned forward while walking, like an old man.
