Seng Tan | Vancouver

Seng Tan injured his tailbone while skiing. Over the past 20 years, he sought medical advice and endured countless physical therapies. After spending a lot of money, his pain had not improved. Released From Spinal Pain

Lowest Point of My Life

I immigrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1990 and started working in a restaurant. It was also about that time, when I was 20 years old, that I suffered from a stiff neck. Over time, my condition worsened. I developed chronic neck pain. At its worst, I was unable to move my neck.

In my younger days, I suffered a tailbone injury from a fall while skiing. The pain became more obvious and acute with age. It became so unbearable that standing more than 15 minutes was a challenge; bending over to lift and carry things was near impossible. During those 20 years of pain and physical torment, I became extremely hot-tempered. I tried countless physiotherapy sessions and different remedies including traditional Chinese massage, acupuncture and cupping therapy. I also consulted with a spine specialist. All these treatments provided only temporary relief. Soon, I fell into deep despair.

To add to my woes, I suffered from periodic abdominal pain and diarrhea caused by irritable bowel syndrome. There were a number of times the abdominal pain struck me unexpectedly. I was forced to become extremely cautious about what I ate, and avoided eating many foods when I was out of the house.

My Search Ended With Energy Bagua

In March 2014, at my friend’s encouragement, my wife and I attended a Bodhi Meditation introductory talk. I was touched by an Energy Bagua testimonial shared during the session.

I signed up for the August Energy Bagua class. I learned to relax, especially my shoulders and back. In the process, I had a wonderful feeling of energy entering my spine. Once, after walking Energy Bagua, my body suddenly felt hot and I experienced a surge of electricity. To my amazement, my pain was gone from that day onwards.

I have been helping out at Bodhi Meditation Center with logistical arrangements, an activity I used to avoid for fear of triggering my back pain. In August 2015, Vancouver Bodhi Meditation Center organized an Energy Bagua event for 1,000 people. I was heavily involved with the carrying and moving of materials.

At the end of the day, I felt tautness in my back muscles and a twinge of pain. Immediately, I went for an hour of Energy Bagua. After the walk, my entire back felt relaxed. I was so relieved.

After a year of Energy Bagua, my abdominal pain and diarrhea improved greatly — from once or twice a month to only once or twice a year. I do not have to worry about eating out, and I am more relaxed and carefree. The quality of my sleep has been enhanced as my neck pain is gone.

Perseverance Yields Happiness
Bodhi Meditation advocates health and happiness, and my story is in perfect alignment with this. Now that my pain has diminished, a new life has begun — I have become a better-tempered, calmer and happier person. Whenever there are major events at the Bodhi Center, I volunteer. The energy I receive from daily Energy Bagua practice makes doing manual labor an easy task.

My family and marriage are blissful, and my business is flourishing. Energy Bagua contributes to these successes, as it teaches me to have a relaxed, open mind and a sincere heart to handle issues and help others. The practice of Energy Bagua has given me good health and also imparted the principle of giving one’s best and not expecting rewards. I believe that meditation is my fastest way to a successful life.

The intent of the testimonial is to offer wellness information of a general nature. Individual results of practice may vary.
